NICHOLAS THORNBURG

 A co-production between Nauticus and Virginia Stage Company, Dickens’ Christmas Towne is an annual attraction with winding cobblestone streets, enclosed vendor spaces, costumed entertainers, and a town square with performance stage.

 

 The installation occupies the entire ground floor of the Half Moone Cruise and Celebration Center in downtown Norfolk, VA – over 15,000 square feet – and comprises 117 individual facades. With a budget of $20,000.00, construction began in June of 2014 and continued through November of that year.

I was retained by special contract with VA Stage Company to supervise a rotating crew of 14 artisans, working closely with the installation’s designer and coordinating with management of both Nauticus and VA Stage Co.
